How To Install a Wireless Doorbell

The wireless doorbell has a number of excellent features.  Whether it be its flexibility, portability or convenience, the wireless doorbell has proven itself as an effective substitute to the wired doorbell.

However, one feature you may not be aware of is its ease of installation.  It requires no running of wires, special equipment or even a crash course as an electrician.  All that is needed is to follow a few basic steps, a friend and a basic screwdriver.  By applying these few basic steps, you can complete the wireless doorbell installation in under 15 minutes and get on with your day.  Here, are our steps on how to install a wireless doorbell:

1.      Take out the old wired doorbell button:  Remove the old wired doorbell by unscrewing the doorbell with a screwdriver and disconnecting the attached wires.

2.      Cover the exposed wires individually:  The exposed ends of the wires should be wrapped individually with electrical tape.

3.      Cover the wrapped wires together: Bundle all the individually wrapped wires together by wrapping electrical tap around all the ends.  This is done to reduce any risk of a possible fire hazard and to make it easier to find the wires at a later point if you or a new owner chooses to go back to a wired doorbell.

4.      Push the wrapped wires into the open hole:  Take the bundled wires and push them back into the open hole.

5.      Place the wireless button over the open hole.  Affix the new wireless button over the open hole.

6.      Place the bell unit inside the house:  Place the bell unit inside the house and adjust it to your preferred chime.

a.       Select a location in the home where you can obtain maximum range throughout the house.  Usually the main hallway is the ideal location in most homes.

7.      Test the doorbell:  You can test the doorbell by pressing the doorbell button and having someone else move from room to room in the house.

a.       If sound range is poor, consider purchasing additional wireless bell receivers to be placed around the house.  There are plug-in varieties that work quite well for this purpose.

b.      If sound does not occur, replace the bell receiver with batteries to determine if it is the batteries or the unit.

c.       If doorbell rings for no apparent reason.  Odds are it is being set off by car alarms or automatic garage doors.  We suggest purchasing a more expensive wireless model as they tend to be setup to help block out such background frequencies.

8.      Sit back and enjoy your accomplishment.  The “hard work” is over.  Never in the history of the doorbell has installation been so easy.  All that is needed now is to expect to replace batteries every 2 to 3 years.

As you can see, the installation of a wireless unit is quick and very easy.  With these simple steps, there is no reason why you shouldn’t be able to knock this project out in no time flat and get on to your next item on your things to do list
