Motion Sensing
Doorbell
Motion sensing doorbells are doorbells that go off
when a visitor gets close enough to the door to set off the
motion sensor.
These are great as a safety precaution as they give the
appearance someone is home or up and about. There are a number of
different varieties on the market
today.
There are wireless versions which have a range of
100 feet from the chime unit. It plays a chime when the
motion sensor detects someone. These can be found for $60
to $100. There
is even one device that can record your voice and so leave
messages for the visitors. This adds yet another
level of protection and can provide added convenience to
homeowners.
Plus, there are some video doorbell cameras have motion
sensors on them that light up letting you know who is at the
door. These can
be found for $70 to over $100. GE currently makes a nice
version for this price range.
Also, if you currently have a wired doorbell
system that does not have motion sensors. You can buy add on motion
sensors which can be placed onto your existing
systems. These
are great if you are not looking for a complete
overhaul.
If you are looking for motion sensors for your
business, wireless Door Announcers may be the best bet for
you. They let
you know when someone entered the front door. There are several
versions: (1) creates a laser beam running near the bottom
of the door frame, when someone walks in they trip this
sensor and the chime goes off, (2) sensor mats, the mats
sound the chime when they are stepped on, and (3) the sensor
detects when the door is opened and sets off the
chime. These
can be had for under $30 and one version is made by Thomas
& Betts.
